I’ve been making my own light painting tools for over ten years. Most of them started the same way — a thought while light painting in the wild.

The Walkback Scanner and Scan A Beam came out of the last few years of that: plenty of prototypes, a lot of R&D and long nights out testing, until they felt right in my hands.

Backlight scanning creates a unique soft wash of light through the scene. Walking back towards the camera, the source stays hidden from the lens the whole way.
